Ariella
From Pastry Chef to Pottery Artist: The Story of Ariella
I’m a classically trained Pastry Chef with a love of making, cooking and eating. After college, I moved to Paris and went to cooking school at Le Cordon Bleu. It was 1997 and cooking school was not yet a thing, but I did it anyway, because food is my thing. I stuck around Paris and worked at Fauchon and did the French 4star restaurant thing in NYC. Eventually, I grew tired of the long hours and wanted a more balanced life. I started Cocoa Designs in San Francisco, got married, and the rest is history.
Food has always been my thing.
Pottery became my thing as I grew my family and started searching for a more balanced life. I started ceramics in 2014, with three little kiddos and a tiny pocket of time. It wasn’t until COVID struck that I delved deeper into pottery. I slowly grew my home studio and started selling my work, Ariella Ceramics was born in late 2021.
After training at Le Cordon Bleu in Paris and working my way through pastry kitchens in Montreal, NYC, and SF, I shifted toward a more sustainable creative life. I discovered pottery in 2014 while raising three young children, and built a home studio. Ariella Ceramics was born in 2021 and grew into Slip Studio.
Life moves slowly and takes giants leaps all at the same time, and here I am opening my first pottery studio in the heart of White Plains, serving the Westchester community in The Switch 210 building. Slip Studio is a dedicated workspace, a labor of love of food and pottery, clay and art, mindfulness and community.
I hope you can join me in this new adventure!

I recently booked a private event at Slip Studio for my bday and the experience was incredible! Ariella walked us through the clay project and lended a hand along each step. It was a fun, intimate occasion. Looking for a creative activity … More to enjoy with friends, family or kids this is the perfect spot. The studio offers endless projects from clay to painting.

There are few teachers like Ariella. She brings confidence and fun to every class, making the work feel both joyful and approachable. Whenever I made a mistake, she showed me simple, effective ways to fix it, so I didn’t have to start from … More scratch. Those small, smart tips helped me grow because I could build on what I’d already learned instead of beginning again each time.
Ariella is not only a beautiful artist but also a gifted teacher and a genuinely kind person. Her calm energy and passion for what she does are absolutely contagious. I can’t wait to take another class with her; it’s truly my happy place. -

I’ve taken several hand-building classes and workshops at Slip Studio, and it’s truly one of my favorite places to spend time. Ariella is an incredible teacher. She’s patient, encouraging, and really talented at helping everyone feel comfortable … More and inspired no matter their skill level.
The studio itself is beautiful. Everything is thoughtfully organized, clean, and welcoming, which makes it such a pleasant environment to work in and learn. Ariella also creates such a warm atmosphere. There are always little touches like coffee and snacks that make it feel even more inviting.
Every time I go, I leave feeling relaxed, creative, and excited to come back. It’s just a wonderful space with a wonderful teacher, and I feel lucky to have found it. -

My experience at Slip Shop exceeded my expectations. Took a Tile Mug workshop and cannot believe how beautifully it turned out. The shop is roomy and inviting; it was so organized, I felt immediately comfortable to set up a work area. Firstly, … More I engaged in some light chatter with friendly strangers sharing lovely charcuterie and beverages. Ariella made her own bread; yes please! Back to the clay: there are works to inspire, some finished and works in progress. I saw uniquely designed platters that make me want to sign up for a series of classes so I can make my own. Great experience!

My 12 year old daughter and I had a wonderful experience at Slip Studio. Ariella is a kind and talented teacher who made both my daughter and I feel like real artists. I had no prior experience with poetry and somehow under Ariella’s tutelage, … More I created something beautiful It was wonderful to experience such a soothing morning, and create a lovely memory with my daughter. I can’t recommend Ariella and Slip Studios highly enough.
